Hauling tons of equipment to my weekly DJ gigs is most uncool. This little DCM-2000 is perfect for my needs. This unit has all necessities covered: dual CD players and built-in mixer with a unique blue dial display plus anti shock. Gig after gig it pretty much pays for itself and puts money in my pocket.

M Audio X Session Pro Mixer DJ Controller Review

(More customer reviews)Well, first off, I'd like to share just a short bit of hell that I went through to get this item, and NOT because of Amazon (they were excellent). I did my research for a good 2 weeks trying to find exactly what I needed for the software I've been using. Currently I've been spending every night after work enjoying my X-Session Pro with PropellerHead's Reason 4.0. Anyways, after doing my research I knew exactly what I wanted and needed. I ended up going to 2 different guitar centers in Manhattan, one of which told me they didn't even carry the item (even though I had the printed item from guitar center's website in my bag). Anyways, after a long drawn out battle with Guitar Center, including an online order which after a week of not shipping, I had to call THEM, only to find out that GC no longer would carry the item.. absolutely stupid.Ok, I'm finished complaining, but I only wanted to share this because I finally just got onto Amazon, ordered my X-Session Pro, and BEFORE Guitar Center had even removed the charge from my credit card, my X-Session was waiting for me at my house...
So Cheers to Amazon and it's excellent Vendors. (this was free standard shipping as well)
As for the Product. What I like? It's VERY VERY light. I can easily take this anywhere I go. Although it's a bit of an awkward shape..the knobs are kind of tall, over all, I'd consider it fairly portable. I would recommend, however, simply throwing in a shirt or some soft cloth material on top of it (that's not going to get fuzzies in the controls) just for some extra padding.
The response is very smooth! I use this with Reason and find the delay time to be very minimal, especially for something that's working with USB.
No power supply needed! This is one of my favorite features for at the home. It's powered through the USB bus. HOWEVER - LAPTOP USERS beware! That means it will drain battery quicker of your laptop when in use, but I can't imagine running any audio software / doing anything serious with this without being stationary / plugged in to your power supply.
Nice Variety of controls. I love my knobs..ohhhhh I love my knobs...I wish I could have 400, but I do like having 12 knobs and 4 faders or whatever. Another note is that the beauty of this USB device is simply being able to program the controls to your likings. For instance, you can program an oscilator to a fader... if that suits your style... so basically you can adjust tempo / levels with knobs or sliders... it's kind of nice to have that kind of variety and freedom.
Overall, there really isn't anything I don't' like about this so far. I don't use the play/stop buttons, perhaps because Reason simply does not support them, but I'm not upset. The reason I bought this was to use the control nobs and sliders and it's perfect for what I wanted.
I am for sure a novice at this stuff, but this is certainly an excellent edition to studio. I'd recommend it to anyone who already owns a keyboard with usb/midi support etc, and doesn't want to pay a ton of money to build their own work station.

(More customer reviews)I bought this unit the first time I saw it at Guitar Center. It is very easy to use straight out of the box. I was impressed with the MP3 playback, effects, sound and appearance of the unit. Every button or knob is there for a reason and can be used while playing or mixing music. The "Accutrak Faders" is the best I ever used so far, "If your song is a little off beat before crossfading, the Accutrak Fader" picks up the slack and blends your mix perfectly. I rate it over past mixers I've had like the Behringer VMX 1000, Numark (Can't remember the model)and any Gemini to list a few. I used this unit with M-Audio Torq and it works fine. I like its ability to interact with DJ software. If you are a mobile DJ, all you need is this unit, a mic, a pair of powered speakers with a sub-woofer, your cd's or laptop with an external drive and you're ready to rock any party. It comes with a very good flight case that protects the unit and can be dragged from gig to gig. I must say that I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this unit to anyone entering the DJ industry for the first time, or even as a professional.

(More customer reviews)I've had this mixer for one year now and it's served me well. I did have to send the unit in for servicing twice already.. once to repair a faulty B1 button and twice when the first servicing bent an LED during repairs.
An inconvenience, but RANE's customer service is superb. When the warranty goes out, I'll be singin' a different tune, but for now, it's perfect.
Looking forward to picking up a newly released 'Video-SL' plug-in very soon, where you can use this mixer for mixing video. You can do so in demo on the SSL version 1.8 software currently, but to export the video full screen for any sort of performance, you need to purchase a license.

The magnetic faders - both channels and cross fade are different if you've never used this or the TTM57SL mixer since the travel distance is a little shorter than most standard mixers not to mention that there is very little resistance in moving the faders. I stopped DJing in the early 90's because it was becoming increasingly more difficult to find good music in vinyl (not to mention the cost was outrageous). I refused to DJ to CDs so I stopped all together till now. With Serato's SL3 system it is just as fun as I used to DJ, except all the drawbacks are gone. No more carrying music crates (except in your laptop), no more being afraid that the stylus needle would skip during a scratch; This product really got me enjoying what I had long lost, my passion for mixing. I'm a Mobile Dj and I use this item to preview my/their songs to my clients rather then submiting a Cd to them. It's easy to carry around, an easy set up and easy to work with. It dont come with speakers, thats the only thing that sucks about it but other then that, I give it 5 stars. If anybody else thinks not, they must not take better care of it. Rane Serato Scratch Live DJ Solution with Audio Interface Review

(More customer reviews)The first concern about this product is whether there is any lag during scratching, and amazingly, there is absolutely none. It works just as you'd want it to, completely naturally. It's hard to believe that you're actually manipulating a digital file when you scratch or speed up or stop the control record. You can even put the stylus down a little way into the control record and the song will start at whatever point that represents. Plus, you can use your turntable to scroll through your songlists.
The software interface is classy and well-designed, and the actual control box is solid. It's a pretty amazing product - a great idea, so simple, yet so effective. My only concern is that it encourages the move away from vinyl, and frankly, the sound quality hit you take with MP3 is pretty big. But not everybody can lug cases of vinyl around and so, I really wouldn't hesitate about buying one of these.
