This is a great studio mixer. Plenty of RCA INS, plus several phono, and 3 mic channels u can use as mono analog inputs for other gear. It's a Swiss army knife. Everyone should have atleast one in their tv setup or in the living room( mixing their consumer stack rack gear all together),anykinda mixing becomes pretty fun with this thing. Though I've always had it in the studio or on stage, I got too many machines that need this guy. A simple ism 3 Stanton signal mixer is nice tho for the Livin room, then no matter who or what comes, u can plug up an electribe and an old dr202 and jam with a video game or whatever you have goin on, instead o stopping the party to go out to the studio or whatever. Tho the ism3 ain't got no knobs or faders bro. Any way the rm 406 has built in sub out with adjustable crossover!(knob?) pretty wide range too, you can get it below the kick or above the bass instrument or what have you. It's nice! I used it like crazy till I go the bbe x3, 3 way crossover- which is next level for sure(IMO).
This mixer will get pretty warm, if you have the send and return pots all cranked all the time!(sheesh).
Also there are master out(with fader) with RCA and xlr out(stereo), along with the xlr sub out-(with trim on both) these outs alone makes this a prize, and it's all analog. :)!, Zone outputs, which are RCA and TRS 1/4 inch( if You don't know yet what trs plugs are, I suggest checking on that, it's it's own rabbit hole for sure), and the zone has it's own gain pot volume control, and there is a third set of outs! It's called booth and it's RCA only, and it's got it's own volume control! So u can use it as master fx loop back into an extra channel RCA or record off it while playing live or whatever. Dub yourself, it's an easy way to get good at listening. You can do so much with all these INS and outs. The fx and cue send buttons on the 4 channel add phenomenal amount of control as well. ITs got fader start, so if you got Stanton cdjs your set. A side point here is that I all your send and return k obs are full blast along with all three out put pots (master, zone, booth) and your gaining all four channels, yes, this mixer will get Warm.
It's got freaking plasma meters! I don't know what they are actually called, but it's not digital bit LEDs, some sorta diffusion that's beautiful. Each channel has one in mono, and there is astereo meter on the master that'll flip to also monitor the zone out plasma style. All the pots are glow pots(illumi-knobs!), so they have lights(red or green depending on the knob ibelieve) that shine out to show the level . If the knob is set to 2 o'clock, bam a light is shining out at 2 o'clock so u can visually check all your meters and knob levels in one glance in the middle of the dark club or venue. This thing is a life saver. As good as it gets unless you wanna drop a coupla thousand onna pioneer.
It goes without saying, that a digital mixer with digital fx built in is as good as the beer you spill on it.
