I needed a amp for my Roland drum set up at home. I bought this Crown to use with some Peavey 3-way PA speakers. I expected the amp to be built well and sound great, and it did not disappoint. Clear crisp highs, uncolored sound, w/ enough power to make my digital drum set come alive
and sound more like an acoustic set. I also use my Keyboard through this set up. 4 stars instead of 5 only because the fans are a bit loud. This is really not an issue for me, but I know it would matter to others using this in-home.

Crown's XLS Series represents a new era in affordable, quality power amplification. The line consists of four models in a uniform, rugged 2U chassis, incorporating the best of tried-and-true design principles and innovative features. XLS Series amplifiers are professional stereo power amplifiers engineered to meet demanding audio requirements reliably and within budget. Plus, every XLS Series amplifier is backed by Crown's three-year warranty.

Stereo Power The XLS402 cranks out 300 Watts per channel (600 bridged mono). Each channel features precision detented level controls, a power switch and power LED, and six LEDs which indicate signal, clip and fault.
Input and Output Two 3-pin, female, balanced XLR inputs are provided for input (one per channel).
Four-pole Speakon connectors and binding post jacks are both provided for output. The top Speakon connector is wired for both channels, so it can be used for bridge-mono wiring or for stereo wiring of two speakers to a single Speakon connector. The binding posts accept banana plugs or bare wire.
Rugged Chassis Housed in a rugged, all-steel 2U chassis, the XLS402 will have no problem coping with the rigors of day-to-day usage.
Plenty of Protection The XLS402 boasts extensive protection and diagnostic capabilities. Output Current Limiting circuitry protects the amplifier output stage from damage caused by short-circuit loads. DC Protection disconnects the loudspeaker load in the event of an output DC offset exceeding 2V. The high-voltage power supplies are protected by a circuit breaker, and the Thermal Protection circuit protects you from overheating.
Of course, prevention is the best protection. Internal heat sinks and efficient forced-air fans prevent excessive thermal buildup to begin with.
Three-Year Warranty The XLS402 is backed up by Crown's three-year, no-fault, fully transferable warranty. Protect your investment and guarantee its specifications.
